Succession Planning at a Medical Academic College in Saudi Arabia: A Mixed Research Design

Objectives: To ensure the proper replacement and continuity of effective leadership in all management positions institute, succession planning should be implemented. The aim study was to assess perception managers at various managerial regarding implementation their academic institution. Methods: Using a mixed research method, this descriptive, cross-sectional carried out private medical college eastern region Saudi Arabia taking convenient sample 61 employees holding different positions. An electronic, self-administered questionnaire developed by researchers filled up participants including close-ended some open-ended questions implementation, its facilitators, possible obstacles. Results: most revealed that current position is first they had one five years experience. Most preferred have structural program with mentor before moving any future position. Multitasking, followed miscommunication were main obstacles planning. However, having previous experience, friendly cooperative teamwork among facilitators duties responsibilities. Conclusion: Educational institutions generally need develop for designing successional program. greatest proportion reported optimal plan supposed 4 6 months.
